Numbers dwindled from 3,000 in 2020 to around 2,400 last year as the pre-eminent finance conference became a more sedate affair

The snow is back at Davos. So are the financial services titans who ditched the rainy return of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting last year, which many had slammed for losing relevance.

Andrea Orcel, UniCredit's chief executive, dubbed 'Mr Davos' for his consistent presence at the conference, is attending the 2023 event which kicks off on 16 January. He missed it last year when the first in-person WEF meeting for two years was shifted from its usual January to May, as he was too busy pushing through the Italian lender's new strategy.
