Bank of America Merrill Lynch's co-head of global investment banking, Diego De Giorgi, has been named sole head of the division 18 months after his last promotion.

London-based De Giorgi takes the reins following the bank's decision to name his New York-based co-head, Karim Assef, chairman of global investment banking, according to an internal memo sent to staff on October 18.
