Delayed EU trading caps to kick off stock market battle

European regulators are belatedly set to suspend hundreds of shares from being traded in so-called dark pools, provoking a battle among traditional exchanges and electronic trading firms for that business.

In early January, the European Securities and Markets Authority was forced to delay the caps, an integral part of new EU trading rules, by more than two months because of a lack of quality data required to calculate them.
