Deutsche Bank pledges to cut all coal financing by 2025

A recent report found that some large European banks had funnelled €8bn into the sector, despite similar environmental pledges

Deutsche Bank says it will stop financing any activities related to coal mining within five years, part of a broader set of measures by the German lender to bolster its environmental credentials.

The bank said that it would end global business activities in coal mining by 2025 — including capital markets and financing work — and will review all of its current work in the oil and gas sector by the end of this year.
