Deutsche Bank has deployed an army of “robots” to enable it to strip out thousands of jobs as the German lender embarks on a radical overhaul of its business.

The move is slated to save Deutsche millions of dollars in costs and comes after Christian Sewing, the chief executive, announced in the summer that the bank was axing 18,000 jobs as part of the most drastic overhaul in the company’s 149-year history.
