Germany's Deutsche Börse has been forced into an embarassing climbdown after it mistakenly "named and shamed" at least five companies on its website for failing to file their annual figures on time.
The Börse, which has been trying to crack down on transparency and disclosure among companies listed on its high-growth Neuer Markt, published a list of 31 company names on its internet site at the end of last week. Deutsche Börse claimed that these companies had not met its March 31 deadline for filing their annual reports.
