Deutsche Börse has named the chairman of Italian bank UniCredit's German operations as its next chief executive — three weeks to the day from the resignation of Carsten Kengeter.

The German stock exchange group confirmed the appointment of Theodor Weimer, a former Goldman Sachs partner who has worked at UniCredit since 2007, in a statement. He will begin a three-year term on January 1, 2018.
