Deutsche hires Goldman's Mayer as chief economist

Deutsche Bank has recruited Thomas Mayer from Goldman Sachs as its chief European economist within the global markets division in London.

Mayer, who will join the bank after Summer as a managing director, will report to David Folkerts-Landau, global head of research at Deutsche Bank. He replaces Carlo Monticelli, who left the bank to become head of international relations for the European Union at the treasury department of Italian economic ministry.
