The improbably named, permanently kilted Walter Scott of the eponymous Edinburgh fund management firm, has made what may be a suitably romantic gesture.

He and his colleagues have bought on their own accounts almost 40% of top Scottish jeweller and royal warrant holder Hamilton & Inches.
