The investment arm of the Dubai government has recruited a former Morgan Stanley banker as a managing director in its private equity team with a brief to grow its business in the US, where it has yet to invest.

Dubai International Capital said in a statement it has hired David Smoot from Morgan Stanley Private Equity. Smoot will be DIC’s third private equity managing director and will report to Sylvain Denis, chief executive of the private equity division.
