Digital payments boom threatens to claim £8bn from UK banks

A new study from Accenture shows that £8bn in banking revenues is at risk over the next six years

Greater uptake of digital payment methods could mean UK banks lose £8bn by 2025, 18.1% of their overall payments revenues, according to a new study.

The potential losses are more pronounced in the UK than other markets, according to an analysis of responses from 240 payments executives working at banks in 22 countries by Accenture, the professional services firm.
