Dresdner Bank reports mild drop in pre-tax income

Dresdner Bank's 12.7% decline in pre-tax income for the first half of 2001 was less severe than that suffered by its main competitors.

Dresdner earned €616m ($552m) before taxes in the first half, equating to a 12.7% decline from the same period last year. This compared favourably with Commerzbank, which reported a 74% drop in pre-tax profits in the first half, and Deutsche Bank, whose profits fell 35% in the same period.
