Wachovia, the US financial services group, has hired Atul Bajpai, a senior Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein banker, as chief executive of its European corporate and investment banking business.

Bajpai, who was global head of debt principal finance, asset-backed conduits and securitisation at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, fills a new role at Wachovia.
