Duke Street Capital, the private equity group, is believed to be in exclusive talks to buy the Great Mills DIY chain from RMC, with a deal expected soon.

Just a week ago Duke Street withdrew from the bidding for Homebase, presumably because the due diligence process revealed a high level of capital expenditure that the group required going forward.
