When star fund manager Tim Albrecht announced he was quitting DWS in September 2018 to head up German equities at Berenberg, the asset manager was set to lose one of its longest-serving and best-known investment professionals.
Just two months later, Albrecht made a shock U-turn. He ended up staying at DWS, which was widely seen as a coup for then chief executive Asoka Wöhrmann, who began his role only a few weeks after Albrecht's departure went public.
