More than 500 restaurants across the UK, including several favoured London haunts of City finance folk, are participating in this year’s StreetSmart campaign, a longstanding initiative that aims to help the homeless through donations made by diners.
The scheme runs for two months in November and December each year, with winter diners invited to add an optional £1 to their bill. The pooled money goes directly and entirely to a variety of homeless charities, since StreetSmart's administration costs have been footed since 2006 by Deutsche Bank, which also backs the parallel SleepSmart scheme that raises funds through donations added to hotel bills.
