Benchmark Capital, an early backer of internet auction site eBay, has hired two software specialists from Google, as the venture capital firm expands its entrepreneur-in-residence group.

At Google, Bret Taylor and Jim Norris developed the information giant's mapping software. They met when they were students at Stanford University.
