EC launches in-depth probe into Deutsche Börse-LSE deal

The merger between Deutsche Börse and the London Stock Exchange Group, which would create Europe's largest exchange group, has been referred to an in-depth antitrust review by the European Commission, after regulators identified "preliminary concerns" around the combined group's presence in several areas including clearing.

The merger between Deutsche Börse and the London Stock Exchange Group, which would create Europe's largest exchange group, has been referred to an in-depth antitrust review by the European Commission, after regulators identified "preliminary concerns" around the combined group's presence in several areas including clearing.

The Commission had been undertaking an initial review of the merger since August 25, during which time questionnaires were sent to market participants to gather feedback.
