Douglas Hill is to become the fourth managing partner of Edward Jones, the US retail broker, when John Bachmann steps down at the end of the year.

Hill is currently the firm's chief operating officer. He spent his entire career at Edward Jones, joining the trading department in 1968. In 1981 he established the marketing department and was head of sales and marketing for the next 16 years, becoming chief operating officer in 1998.
