Amethyst Corporate Finance, the advisory boutique established last year by Marcus Shapiro and Andy Margetts, two former HSBC bankers, has made its first hire.

John Edwards is joining Amethyst as a managing director after 12 years at Close Brothers Corporate Finance and Hill Samuel Bank. At Close Brothers, where he was a director, Edwards focused on the engineering and support services sectors.
