The former head of infrastructure and energy finance for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Citigroup in London has joined steel company Al Ezz Steel Rebars as finance director, highlighting the draw of the corporate sector for some investment bankers.

Simon Elliston, who would have had an established relationship with Egypt-based Al Ezz Steel Rebars, or Ezz Steel, as result of the debt and equity financing Citigroup has provided the company, joined its London office yesterday, according to a statement.
