New chair for FTSE Policy Group

Professor Elroy Dimson has been named as chairman of the FTSE Policy Group, which advises FTSE on the construction and maintenance of indices and on future market requirements. Dimson was involved in setting up FTSE's first indices in 1984, and replaces David Hobbs, who has been in the position since March 2010. He will continue to advise the firm as a consultant. Among other roles Dimson is chairman of the strategy council for the Norwegian Government Pension Fund.
