Shareholders in EMI yesterday expressed disappointment with the group's proposed $20bn merger with the music division of US entertainment giant, Time Warner, reports The Independent.
As the company unveiled details of the deal in London, institutional investors said the premium merger was not ideal for shareholders and would make a counterbid from a rival media group more likely. EMI shares closed 72p higher than 720p yesterday, indicating that the market is not expecting a bid battle.
