The government is beginning its programme of slowly easing lockdown restrictions across England on 8 March, marking the start of a four-phase roadmap.

There will be five weeks between each step, with four weeks for the data to reflect the changes in restrictions and then one week to notify the sectors. Each step will depend on four key tests, including vaccine rollout, hospitalisation rates, infection rates and new variants.
