England’s 14-day quarantine period eased with private tests rolled out for global travellers

Tests will have to be paid for privately, booked by passengers by selecting one of the providers on the government’s approved list

The UK government has rolled out a scheme that allows travellers to cut their quarantine time by two thirds if they test negative for Covid-19 five days after they travel.

Those arriving in England from countries that are not on the government’s travel corridor list will be able to cut their 14-day quarantine period short if they test negative for Covid-19 just five days after arrival, the Department of Transport said on 24 November.

The scheme, which takes effect on 15 December, rolls out tests that must be paid for privately and booked by passengers selecting from a list of government-approved providers.
