Environment is US shareholders' 'top concern'

Ernst & Young finds that green resolutions, rather than those on executive pay, will dominate company meetings in 2012, for third consecutive year

About 45% of the resolutions proposed by shareholders for discussion at company AGMs in the US this year are on environmental or social issues, suggesting these are now shareholders' top concern - bigger than the traditional bugbears of executive pay and board composition.

The finding, in a report from company advisers Ernst & Young, ranks "green" issues firmly in first place among shareholder concerns. The full report is available here http://bit.ly/HUzjBW.
