Nordic buyout firm EQT Partners has made one of the largest writedowns of a fund, in an indication of what is expected to be a dire fourth-quarter reporting season for investors.

The 50% writedown of the value of companies in EQT Fund IV was higher than the 20% investors were expecting, on average, from all firms and came from one of Europe's most successful groups.
