Equity long/short hedge funds have delivered their best returns for six months. According to the global hedge fund index published by Van Hedge Fund Advisors, the investment consultant, strategies generated a 3.7% return last month.

The equity long/short is the most popular strategy in the hedge fund industry, accounting for between 20% and 25% of assets under management.
