Liikanen advises UK to be 'compatible'

Finnish bank governor Erkki Liikanen tells UK parliamentary commission that country should overhaul banking system in a compatible way to European Union

The UK Government must overhaul its banking system in a way that is compatible with measures being considered by European regulators, a key policymaker has warned.

Erkki Liikanen, the governor of the Bank of Finland and chair of the European Commission-backed Liikanen review, said the UK's reforms must be "compatible" with those being drawn up in Europe.
