Cybercrime knows no borders, and cyber criminals often attempt the same attack on financial institutions in multiple countries, thus getting a better “return on investment”. The best way to defend against such broad scale cyberattacks is to share intelligence among target institutions.

When one firm shares information about a threat, others can quickly defend against it. This forces the criminal to start over again with new attack infrastructure, making cybercrime more expensive.
