European bill of shareholder rights adds to governance pressure

A comprehensive four-year study of shareholder rights in 17 European countries has culminated in the publication of a Bill of Rights for shareholders, adding to the momentum for a wholesale improvement in corporate governance.

The Bill of Rights, released by Apcims-EASD, a European securities industry association, on Friday outlines nine recommended minimum rights for shareholders across the European Union and in Norway and Switzerland.
