European institutions observe one minute's silence

In response to the tragedy in the US, European exchanges and investment banks observed a one-minute silence starting at 12:45 GMT.

The exchanges called on members to observe the silence and not trade during that minute. LIFFE is not trading US universal stock futures but other contracts are trading normally. Nasdaq Europe closed early on Tuesday but opened as normal on Wednesday with trading on Nasdaq 100 and Dow 30 securities suspended.
