European investment banking fees nosedive in punishing start to 2019

New figures suggest there will be few bright spots for banks to point to when they reveal first-quarter earnings

European investment banking revenues fell by a third in the first quarter as dealmaking tumbled across all business lines.

The data, coupled with recent dire predictions for sales and trading revenues so far this year, suggest a bruising reporting season is on the cards for the world’s biggest investment banks.
