European private equity gave negative investment returns in 2001

A study carried out for the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) has shown that total investments in European private equity returned minus 2% in 2001.

The EVCA was keen to point out that long-term returns are still positive. When measured over a ten-year horizon, total European private equity investments returned 17% per annum.
