European regulator calls for common rules for fund performance fees

Performance fees have been in the regulatory spotlight and fund managers are under pressure to reduce what they charge

Europe’s main markets watchdog has published draft rules on performance fees charged by fund managers, in a push to standardise fee-reporting across the continent.

The European Securities and Markets Authority is concerned about the variation in what investors are charged for funds that fall under the Ucits brand, an EU directive that enables asset managers to sell funds across borders.
