Former City minister John Glen is eyeing a run to become the chair of the influential Public Accounts Committee, according to people familiar with the matter.

The well-respected Glen has emailed MPs for their support, according to an individual who has seen the note, as parliament kicks off the process of selecting the heads of the groups that hold various government departments to account.
