Business schools' programmes are specially geared for the finance industry

An MBA may be the perfect catalyst for a career change, but anyone looking to remain in the same field and deepen an existing knowledge base may find that his or her purposes are better served by an MSc.

'An MBA course doesn't teach you how to do high-powered mathematics or economics. If you want to work in the finance industry, an MSc is a much more natural choice,' says Andrew Oswald, a professor in economics at Warwick University.
