Facebook rolls out WhatsApp feature that allows messages to disappear

'Our goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp feel as close to in-person as possible, which means they shouldn’t have to stick around forever,' Facebook said

WhatsApp will this month introduce "disappearing messages" on the encrypted texting app, in a bid to help conversations "feel lighter and more private".

The move, announced by WhatsApp owner Facebook in a 5 November statement, will enable users to automatically delete messages on the app seven days after they have been sent. It brings Whatsapp in line with its messaging rivals Signal and Telegram.
