The Financial Conduct Authority’s plans to ‘name and shame’ firms under its investigation are still an “abject failure” despite being watered down, according to a House of Lords report.

Proposals to announce probes into City firms at an earlier stage still risk damaging their reputations unnecessarily, the Lords financial services regulation committee has said. The peers are concerned that the move could harm the UK’s attractiveness as a place to invest and dampen growth.
