Banks are digging deep to support refugees in Europe and the Middle East, announcing a variety of initiatives and donations to charities working in the field as the crisis escalates.

BNP Paribas on September 15 announced a €5 million package, some of which will be channelled through the French bank's Rescue & Recover Fund. The fund matches donations made by its employees and customers that are then distributed through the fund's partner aid agencies Médecins Sans Frontières, CARE and the French Red Cross to help their refugee projects in France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Austria, Sicily, Greece and Serbia.
