Senior UK politicians have more than doubled their earnings for delivering speeches to some of the largest City companies in three years, amid mounting scrutiny into income earned by MPs outside of their day job.
According to Financial News' analysis of the parliamentary register of interests, nine MPs earned a combined £270,720 for 113 hours of work for 16 speaking engagements in the year to mid-November 2021. That's more than double the £118,000 collectively earned by a dozen MPs from 26 City speeches in 2018.
