Financial sector responds to 'very welcome' plan by the European Commission to review rules brought in since the financial crisis

Finance industry readies EU regulatory hit list

The financial sector is drawing up a list of European Union regulations it wants abolished or changed following a “very welcome” plan by the European Commission to review rules brought in since the financial crisis.

Areas likely to be targeted include the methods for determining which fixed income instruments should be subject to stricter transparency requirements, how structured finance transactions are reported, how capital adequacy rules relate to illiquid investments, and collateral and clearing rules for standardised swaps.
