I tweet a lot, but someone recently told me I should be careful as it could get me into trouble with my employer. Surely they can’t stop me, can they?

People often treat posts and comments on social media as if they were having a conversation with friends. But posting on Twitter or Facebook is very different: you are publishing in a permanent form, potentially for the world to see. Twitter profiles are usually public, so anyone, including a colleague, boss or prospective employer, can see what you have been posting.
