Fintech’s dirty little secret
So here’s the problem with diversity: people think it’s too hard to change it and they often end up doing nothing. That’s why I always get quite excited when senior women stick their neck out and talk about it publicly, because that gives it more urgency. Blythe Masters, the JPMorgan commodities chief turned blockchain guru, hit the nail on the head when she told the London Metal Exchange Dinner last week that the lack of women in the City is “unacceptable”. She wasn’t just talking about banks though, she slammed the tech sector too. To be sure, it’s easy to bash banks and asset managers for being “male, pale and stale”. But what about fintech?
