First fall in five years for individual arts giving

The worst is yet to come

Annual giving to the arts from wealthy UK individuals has dropped for the first time in five years, according to new research from consultancy Arts & Business, in the latest sign that the economic conditions are hitting the country's high net worth individuals.

Investment across all private sectors, including individuals, business investment, trusts and foundations, dropped by 6% to 7% between 2008 and 2009, according to the report published this morning.
