The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has made two senior appointments at First State Investments following the resignation of Rob Adams, the firm's chief executive officer, and a reorganisation of the company.

Tom Waring has been promoted to the newly created role of chief executive officer of First State International. He will combine the operations of Commonwealth Bank's international wealth management businesses, First State Investments UK and First State Investments Asia, which were previously administered separately.
