Surge in City flexible working arrangements

UK financial firms are ditching their long-hours culture as they compete for talent with startups, according to research

Six in 10 City staff now have the option of working remotely while around a quarter are able to agree reduced hours, according to the latest research that demonstrates the growing popularity of flexible working.

A poll of about 900 staff at investment banks, fund managers and other City employers carried out by recruitment firm Astbury Marsden, found remote working had increased from about 50% in 2015 and 2014. Four in 10 female City staff can now work flexible hours and more than a third of men also now have this option.
