Richard Gnodde, the co-chief executive of Goldman Sachs International and global co-head of investment banking, was a clear winner in the Investment Banker of the Year category, taking the top spot by the widest winning margin of any award this year.

Behind him, Franck Petitgas, co-head of investment banking at Morgan Stanley, narrowly edged out Diego De Giorgi and Bob Elfring, co-heads of corporate and investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, for second spot at last night's Financial News Awards for Excellence in Investment Banking 2014.
