Ford's bonds rallied after Standard & Poor's downgraded the company by one notch to BBB- but decided the car group's credit rating outlook was stable.

The rating cut, which took Ford to the lowest investment grade rating, ended several weeks of market volatility. While the downgrade was expected, investors took comfort that the outlook was now stable.
