Former chairman courts cash for Nymex

Michel Marks, former chairman of the New York Mercantile Exchange, has resigned from its board of governors and is reported to have formed a syndicate to buy the business.

The New York Post, cited trading sources, said Marks, who was Nymex chairman from 1978 to 1987, resigned at the end of last month saying he could best represent the interests of members if he were not on the board.
